Fayetteville Technical Community College is recruiting for a new member to join our Student Services Team and now accepting applications for a full-time Coordinator of Career and College Promise.
The Coordinator will oversee the institution’s dual enrollment High School Connections program. This includes, but is not limited to supervising the High School Connections staff and supporting dually enrolled students throughout their time as a student at FTCC.
Essential Duties—Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee the institution’s dual enrollment program, aligning with state regulations and accreditation standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with FTCC’s partner high schools, faculty, and staff to ensure program and student success.
- Supervise and lead Career Coaches and staff by setting clear expectations, promoting a collaborative environment, offering continuous guidance and support, and ensuring accountability to achieve departmental goals and enhance student success.
- Recruit, hire, and train Career Coaches and staff, guaranteeing they have the required qualifications and skills to provide effective student support, and regularly monitor and assess their performance, offering constructive feedback and addressing areas for improvement and professional growth.
- Provide guidance to students and Career Coaches on the Career and College Promise pathways for success in earning credits in college courses that lead to a certificate, diploma, degree, or state or industry-recognized credential.
- Maintain awareness of and interpret North Carolina statutes, Department of Public Instruction (DPI) policies, NCCCS policies, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) policies, and Fayetteville Technical Community College policies and develop program compliance measures as appropriate.
- Oversee student recruitment, registration, and academic advising processes for dual enrollment participants.
- Coordinate with high school partners and FTCC leadership to establish course schedules and registration needs of High School Connections students.
- Communicate enrollment data, student concerns, grade reports, etc. with the appropriate high school partners and FTCC personnel to provide effective student support.
- Resolve complaints or problems among faculty, staff, and students within the program/concentration area and advise the Department/Division Chair and/or Appropriate Dean as appropriate.
- Develop and implement an assessment plan designed to monitor and evaluate the continuous improvement of High School Connections activities.
- Organize and implement student support initiatives, including advisement, recruitment, orientation, registration activities, and annual Open House events at partner high schools.
- Ensure all required reports and data related to grant programs and other initiatives are submitted accurately and according to established timelines.
- Provide input to the Senior Director of Admissions and Recruitment on program budget needs to include staffing patterns, salaries, supplies, equipment, travel, and other costs.
- Provide enthusiastic and responsible customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration, Counseling or related field and four years of experience in providing and coordinating advising or counseling services to students in an academic setting.
- Experience working in an educational institution, higher education or K-12, with the ability to understand academic policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Experience with interpretation and application of state regulations.
- Experience leading and managing staff members.
- Experience with records management and computerized student record systems.
Preferred Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Services, or related area. Possess experience with dual enrollment programs.
